Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them: THE MOVIE REVIEW

Over the break I had the pleasure of watching J.K. Rowling's new film. J.K. Rowling, the author of the classic book and movie series that swept the nations off their feet Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling had no doubt taken the world by surprise after she ended the Epic series of Harry Potter and later announced that she would be continuing to bless the world with more stories.

One of the stories is a continuation of the iconic harry potter series with a twist. . .its about Harry's kid and its called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. However that's not the only twist, the bigger one is that its in the form of a PLAY. Even with this new movie out and its book released much like the other book it is also in the form of a screenplay/script.

While I was disappointed that there wasn't an actual story to read like her earlier Harry Potter books, this movie was in no way disappointing.

Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them has a pre harry potter story line centered around the main character Mr. Newt Scamander in 1926 and takes place in New York.

I'd like to go ahead and warn the audience that if you have not seen and/or plan to see the movie that the next part of the review holds a few spoilers, but there is a trailer for the movie at the bottom of the article as well as a link to the official website that can give you more insight.

. . . .Now that they are gone lets get started on summarizing the epic adventures of our protagonist.

In this movie Newt Scamander (played by Academy Award winning Eddie Redmayne) is a Magizoologist traveling from England with task in mind and a pretty interesting briefcase in hand. Throughout out the movie we get bits and pieces of who Newt Scamander really is with little clues on his past that just makes us more and more curious with every familiar name that is mentioned in connection with our hero. I feel the only downside to the movie is that they never quite give you his background other than he went to Hogwarts, his brother is a well known hero and Lida Lestrange, and even then they haven't elaborated on the details. However I guess it works for them cause after the movie I was left highly anticipating the next movie with hopes of learning more of our new character.

The movie is based around the wonders of Mystical Creature that Mr.Scamander have living in his Breifcase in which due to a small mishap at the bank he accidently switches bags with a Muggle name Mr Jacob Kowalski. Mr. Kowalski later opens the case thinking that its his own and happens to set a few of Newt's creature free to wonder the city leaving them along with Goldstein Sisters to find them.

When I first heard of the movie I thought that there was no way they could try to top the Harry Potter series. I was honestly wondering what direction could they possibly go in after that ending of the iconic series. I believed that there was nothing else that could impress me but after seeing that movie I now see that I was wrong.

She not only changed the time frame the story takes place in but she also changed the location. Prior to this movie we were only made familiar with the wizarding world of England in the 1990's but now she's exposed us to the wizarding world of North America circa 1920's. So different from what I would have imagined on my own if you would have thrown the idea at me especially since there was a black woman in charge of the wizard community.

The movie was amazingly put together directed by David Yates who also directed that last few harry potter movies. The cinematography of it was very captivating in how well they were able to draw the audience in. I would and have recommend this movie to all my friends and family. The sequel is already highly anticipated by the masses and the movie hasn't even been in theaters a whole two weeks. I am excited and at the edge of my seat waiting to learn more about our new characters and their stories.
